Nine varieties were planted
in the autumn and spring. Five other varieties
were planted in the autumn only. All of the
cloves planted in the autumn over-wintered
well, except Morado (from Chile) and cloves
from Taiwan. Bulb size at harvest of most
varieties was good, but spring planting tended
to give better quality.
